Designed on Yuin Country

Here at By The Dunes we recognise the Traditional Owners and Custodians of the land we design and operate on; the Yuin People of the Yuin Nation. We would also like to pay our respects to Elders past and present. We would also like to recognise the continuation of cultural, spiritual and educational practices of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Yuin can also be spelt as 'Djuwin' or 'Juwin'.

Born on the shores of Booderee National Park, Jervis Bay our brand was made with nature in mind. Jervis Bay is renown for the whitest sand in the world; and never disappoints. Booderee stands for “Bay of Plenty” and was established as a National Park in 1992. Booderee is jointly managed by its Traditional Owners and Parks Australia. The park is also home to Australia’s only Aboriginal owned and managed Botanic Gardens.

Our patterns are inspired by the shells we found amongst the shores of Summercloud Bay and Bhewerri Beach. Booderee is home to some of the most pristine environments and eco-systems that deserve to be looked after. The park is home to an endangered bird; Eastern Bristlebird and we encourage you if you ever visit the area to leave only footsteps.

Due to increased tourism over the years, by the end of the summer season the rubbish and waste left on the shores of our beaches is disgraceful. Jervis Bay is home to protected marine species and the increased tourism could be detrimental to the environment in future years if people don’t care for our environment. I’ve always taught my son to pick up any rubbish he sees when we visit the beach, and another great initiative is Take 3 for the Sea. Encourages people to take 3 pieces of rubbish each time they visit the beach or a waterway; I encourage you to teach your little ones this also!

By doing small initiatives like this you’re teaching a generation small steps to change the world. We ensure when we go to the beach to not take plastic; we pack all our home-made food in stainless steel lunchboxes, and don’t bring plastic toys to the beach that could get left behind. We hope to bring beautiful eco-friendly beach tours to By The Dunes so you and your little ones can help protect our oceans too!
